Roc Eclerc becomes the answer ChatGPT recommends

How six articles changed AI answers on funeral services in Paris and Rennes

Someone who has just lost a relative asks ChatGPT which funeral homes in Paris offer the best value. The model answers with names, and the family calls one of them. Roc Eclerc, a network present across France, did not appear in that answer.

A visible brand with local blind spots

We measured before publishing. Two hundred prompts, two topics (rapport qualité prix and recommendation), French market, tracked with Meteoria.

The aggregate figures were solid. Roc Eclerc appeared in 63% of answers on value-for-money questions and 67% on recommendation questions, at an average position of 2,9 in a set where the leading network holds more than two hundred mentions.

The gaps were local and specific. On "Quelles pompes funèbres à Paris ont le meilleur rapport qualité / prix ?", no mention. On "Quelles pompes funèbres à Rennes me recommandes-tu ?", no mention. Both are city-level questions, the form the query takes when a family needs a provider now. National presence had not translated into the local answers.

Six articles in the media the models read on this subject

We identified the sources ChatGPT pulls from when it answers French questions on funeral pricing, local providers, and choosing an agency, then published there. That analysis pointed to regional and practical-information media, Ouest France and Infonet among them, rather than national brand press.

Six AI-First™ articles followed, written against the questions families type and structured so an answer engine can use them.

Both target questions now return the brand

Out of six articles published, five are used to feed ChatGPT's answers, and the brand is mentioned in six responses.

Both documented prompts changed. After publication on Ouest France on 9 March 2026, Roc Eclerc is named in the Paris value-for-money answer. After publication on Infonet on 17 March 2026, the article is cited as a source and the brand is named in the Rennes recommendation answer.

The Paris case is the more instructive one. The brand appears in the answer without the article showing up as a displayed source, which is how off-site content often works in practice: it shapes what the model says about a category before it earns a visible citation.

Performance scores moved on both topics

Between April 2026 and the second measurement, the value-for-money score went from 63% to 71%. The recommendation score went from 67% to 71,5%. Mentions moved from 203 to 283.

The competitive set moved too. This is a dense, mature category with several national networks investing continuously, and the honest reading is that Roc Eclerc improved its own coverage rather than pulled away from the field. PFG remains ahead in raw volume. Advitam holds a marginally better average position.

What changed is the answer a family in Paris or Rennes receives, which is the level at which a funeral provider is actually chosen.

What this case shows about local queries

A national brand can be well known to the models and still be absent city by city. AI answers to local questions are built from local and practical sources, the regional press and the information sites that publish real pricing and real agency comparisons. National awareness does not reach them.

The audit finds the cities where the brand is missing. Publication in the right regional sources puts it back in the answer.
